2024 total eclipse events in the Rochester region

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — With the date of the Total Solar Eclipse inching closer, we’ve created a list of eclipse-viewing events in the Greater Rochester area and surrounding areas.

Upstate New York is among the path of totality for this year’s Total Solar Eclipse on April 8 making it an ideal viewing location for many.

Places to view the Total Solar Eclipse

Arcade & Attica Railroad – The Wyoming County Chamber & Tourism is offering this unique opportunity to experience rail riding while viewing the solar eclipse. Seats are limited and eclipse glasses will be offered.

Batavia Downs Gaming & Hotel – Organizers are hosting an eclipse party with live music, beverage samples, snacks, and more! The bands that are set to perform will be Nerds Gone Wild and WNY’s Premier ’80s Party Band.

Casa Larga Vineyards – This Fairport winery offers a “Planet Patio” event and an
“Over the Moon Private Eclipse Experience” for attendees. Both events provide a viewing spot for the eclipse along with food and wine, the first one is for the public while the latter is a corporate group event.

Genesee Country Village & Museum – This four-day festival begins on April 5 and goes until April 8 giving the public a chance to view the 19th-century Historic Village as well as the eclipse. They offer different packages for this event that can be seen on their website.

Helmer Nature Center – This nature center located in Irondequoit offers a free event for the community. Included in the event is a bounce house for kids, telescopes with solar filters, a NASA live stream, informational sessions, fun crafts, and more!

Lazy Acres Alpacas – Come watch the Alpacalipse with furry friends at this alpaca farm in Bloomfield, NY. Each person gets a cup of food to feed the alpacas and a pair of eclipse glasses to enjoy the celestial event.

Ledgedale Airpark – The Soltality Music Festival will be held at this Brockport park and includes a lineup of 5-6 bands, food trucks, vendors, a local brewery tent, and a viewing deck with telescopes.

Little Lakes Community Center – This solar eclipse celebration in Hemlock, NY features an indoor NASA live stream, free parking and tailgating, educational demonstrations fun activities, and more.

Meadeville Farm – The farm is expecting 2 minutes and 36 seconds of Totality and offers a place to park, tailgate, and grill for guests. The farm only allows ages 25 and up for this event.

Mount Morris Dam – Mount Morris Dam and Recreation Area Visitor Center are offering eclipse-themed tours of the dam and extended hours the day of.

Parcel 5 – Party in the Dark will have a NASA live stream, concert streams, food trucks, fire pits, and more. Eclipse glasses will be available and visitors may bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Phelps Fireman’s Hall – The Phelps Fire Department, Phelps Library & STEAM Lab, and BSA Troop 46 collaborated to create this event which includes 2 telescopes, eclipse-certified glasses, and more!

Rochester Red Wings Innovative Field – The ‘SOLARPALOOZA’ eclipse viewing party will include live music, arts and crafts, raffles, a live NASA video feed screening, and more.

Rolling Hills Asylum – This is your chance to have a spooky sleepover at a famous haunted location. They are offering the chance to camp on the property and go on ghost hunts on the property as well as a viewing party with food trucks and more.

Sodus Point Lighthouse – They will be hosting an eclipse viewing party with a limited number of tickets available. Included in the party are food trucks, doughnuts, hot chocolate, and beer as well as one pair of viewing glasses per ticket. Proceeds will go to the Lighthouse Museum.

Strange Design Public House – Divided Sky: A Totality Tailgate features live music, with beer and cider tastings and a lunch buffet while viewing the eclipse and NASA’s live feed.

Stokoe Farms – Stokoe Farms announced their ‘Dark Side of the Farm’ event which includes a giant screen that will be showing NASA’s live feed and a DJ as well as their usual attractions.

SUNY Brockport – The ‘Total Eclipse of the Port’ event requires a purchased pass for guests to drive onto campus to view this historical moment. The pass covers parking, stickers, live entertainment, four pairs of solar eclipse glasses, and access to food trucks.
