ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Although St. Patrick’s Day is a time for celebration and festivity, officials say it’s one of the most dangerous days to be on the road because of alcohol and drug consumption.

We’re told motorists should know that a DWI charge could lead to a misdemeanor or felony conviction and a subsequent criminal record.

Lindsay Tomidy, the Monroe County Stop DWI Program Coordinator said “There is the need to have that plan beforehand, don’t even drive your car. Take an Uber to go to the bar that you’re going to that way you have no choice but to take an Uber a ride from a sober friend to get home.”

Authorities say they want people to know their rights and keep each other safe when driving this weekend.
