Cleaning lady arrested after over $50k worth of items were stolen from homes

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A cleaning lady in Geneseo was arrested last month after multiple items were stolen from homes she cleaned, according to the New York State Police.

Maureen Schirmer, 58, was hired to clean homes throughout the Geneseo area. It was alleged that she stole multiple items, including jewelry from at least two homes.

According to State Police, Schirmer took the stolen jewelry and pawned it. The total value of the stolen items was around $34,000 at one house and $20,000 at the other.

After a multi-month investigation, Shirmer was arrested on December 19 and charged with two counts of grand larceny. She was taken to the Livingston County Jail for arraignment.

The investigation is ongoing and NYSP is asking anyone with information to call them at (585)-398-4100.
