Geneva Chief of Police resigns, search for replacement begins

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The City of Geneva announced that they are searching for a new Chief of Police on Wednesday.

In the release, the city cited the resignation of its former Chief of Police, Matthew Colton on March 29. This news came just months after Colton had been placed on administrative leave.

Geneva City Manager issues clarification on Police Chief administrative leave

In a statement given back in January, City Manager Amie Hendrix said, “Police Chief Matthew Colton began paid administrative leave pending a personnel investigation. There has been no discipline implemented at this time, nor are any disciplinary charges pending, and this is not a suspension.”

The city announced while the search for a replacement is being conducted, retired Police Chief Michael Passalacqua is set to return as the interim Chief of Police.
