ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — News 8 is getting ready for the total solar eclipse in April, and so are leaders from municipalities all over our area.

A Hilton-Parma town hall Monday night gave folks an idea of how to best prepare for the event.
In terms of safety and convenience, leaders say if you’re on the roads, plan ahead for long wait times in traffic.

They say not a whole lot of resources will be dedicated to traffic, so make sure you have a full tank of gas, food, and water.

“They’re talking about 350,000 to 500,000 influx in tourists coming to the Greater Rochester Area,” said Ryan Rockefeller from the Hilton-Parma Parks and Recreation Department. “So that’s kind of hard to plan for, and it’s not like the PGA or the Lilac Festival where they’re going to one spot. These are 300,000 people going to various spots.”
