ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Local lawmakers are teaming up with RTS to discuss the need for more funding for public transit in the final state budget.

They want a 15-percent increase in funding for RTS consistent with what they have received for the past two years.

Assemblymember Jennifer Lunsford said, “You know, all my colleagues in the city are talking about 6-minute wait times. I’m looking at my district that has two-hour runs. You know, we need to figure out ways to expand our transit system to make it a viable choice for people all across upstate.”

They’re also calling for more support aimed at helping meet the needs of RTS facilities technologies and zero-emissions efforts.
