ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A man was found not guilty of raping a physically helpless woman in Manchester, according to the Ontario County DA’s Office.

In December 2022, Matthew Beck Jr., 25, was accused of sexually assaulting a physically helpless woman, which led to him being arrested and charged with first-degree rape.

However, at the end of his trial, the jury found him not guilty of the crime and he was released. His attorneys said they are thankful the jury looked past any biases they may have had against Beck.

“Thankfully the jury examined the evidence with a critical eye and recognized that Mr. Beck was innocent and found him not guilty,” said Patrick Conklin. “It was a sobering reminder that our justice system can work. The jury looked beyond Matt’s tattoos and whatever snap judgments people make looking at him.”
