ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Board of Education for the Rochester City School District will hold a news conference after Superintendent Dr. Carmine Peluso leaves the district.

It was announced on Tuesday that Dr. Peluso is leaving RCSD to work as the superintendent for the Churchville-Chili Central School District. He is set to begin his new role on July 1, 2024.

A board meeting on Tuesday evening welcomed Dr. Peluso and was approved to be accepted by the board as the new superintendent. Meanwhile, RCSD board members said this could cause a delay in projects in development.

Adam Urbanski, the president of the Rochester Teachers Association, also weighed in with his concern that there is a trend of teachers leaving RCSD because of a lack of appreciation, among other issues.

Further updates will be provided at the board’s press conference at 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.
