ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The wife of fallen Officer Anthony Mazurkiewicz spoke out one day after the sentencing of Kelvin Vickers, who shot and killed her husband.

Lynn Mazurkiewicz was joined by law enforcement Friday morning to talk about her husband, who was shot and killed in July 2022 inside an unmarked vehicle while on the line duty.

Lynn began by sharing pictures of Officer Mazurkiewicz — photos of the fallen officer with her and his children before finally showing pictures of his funeral. She called him a wonderful father, husband, and human being.

“He was a jokester, he thought everthing was funny and could make a joke out of anything,” said Mazurkiewicz. “He was the greatest father, he chose to be a father when he and I got married. He loved my children more than anything. Never showed a difference between my two and his two.”

She then shared pictures of Vickers, which she said he posted to Facebook on the day of Officer Mazurkiewicz’s murder. She said she is happy the judge saw Vickers for who he was and that he got the sentencing they were praying for.

“These pictures show a monster, a monster I saw day in and day out during court for three-and-a-half weeks,” said Mazurkiewicz. “A monster who looked like he could care less each day during trial and sentencing. He even laughed. This man had no soul.”

Vickers was arrested inside a vacant house shortly after Officer Mazurkiewicz was killed. He was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on February 29, 2024.

Mazurkiewicz thanked the Monroe County DA’s Office, the Rochester Police Tactical Unit, and the fellow officers of Officer Mazurkiewicz for standing behind her and her family.

“I ask that you remember his name, remember how unjust this murder was, just remember him — Officer Tony Mazurkiewicz,” she said.
