ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — There are now 68 members in the Amerks Hall of Fame, and the team has inducted a Rochester native to join them.

Former Amerks defenseman Rory Fitzpatrick was inducted into the Amerks Hall of Fame Friday.

This marks the first time a Rochester-born player has been enshrined in the prestigious club.

Fitzpatrick began his career playing for the Junior Amerks before playing with the Rochester Amerks for five years, two of which he served as the team’s captain. In this time, he was able to wrack up fourteen goals and thirty-six assists and was also twice named Rochester’s AHL Man of the Year for his community service.

During his career, he also became a unanimous winner of the organization’s McCulloch Trophy on four different occasions, which is the second-most by any player in the 68-year history of the franchise.
