ROCEHSTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Tuesday is the home opener for the Rochester Red Wings at Innovative field.

After starting the season on the road in Syracuse, the Red Wings host the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs at 4:05 p.m. with gates opening at 2:30 p.m.

The Red Wings are giving away winter mittens to the first 1,500 fans, along with an additional 2024 magnet schedule for the first 5,000 attending the game.

The Red Wings are also staying true to their ’50-degree guarantee’. If the weather does not hit 50-degrees for the duration of the opening day game, everyone attending will be able to exchange their ticket for another game in April or May. Right now, the forecast is right on the line.

The series with the Iron Pigs will trickle into the local eclipse celebration, so you may see some unusual uniforms and logos sported by both teams on the field.

Single-game tickets for all 75 games of the Red Wings season are on sale through the Red Wings website.

Innovative field renovations, additions and Red Wings partnerships

The Rochester Red Wings have partnered Jack Daniels, and along with the partnership have announced remodel plans for the new Jack Daniel’s 10th Inning Bar at Innovative Field.

A performance center is another addition being added, which includes upgrades such as larger clubhouses, food-prep areas for home and visiting teams, and more.

“That will house two batting cages, a weight room, a new video room, a new small clubhouse for umpires or other female staff members, as well as some team storage and storage for us,” Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason said. “It’s going to make us one of the better, if not the best facility in all minor league baseball.”

The project is expected to be done by August.

New food options will also deliver into the upcoming season at Innovative field.  Additions include Spikes’ BBQ, the Black Angus Grill, and the Nutrl Zone which will all make their debut in April.

Several on the field additions have been made this offseason as well, including the addition of MiLB top prospect James Wood, and the newest member of the family Bruce the bat dog.
