ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A 15-year-old boy killed last month in Rochester was shot by his 13-year-old friend while playing with a rifle, according to police.

Police said family members found Jamarion Porter dead of a gunshot wound in a home on Murray Street on January 4. Investigators determined Porter and his 13-year-old friend were playing with a rifle when Porter was shot and killed.

RPD said the 13-year-old boy was cooperating with their investigation. He surrendered to police Tuesday, charged with second degree manslaughter, and issued an appearance ticket.

Police said they could not release more information, as the case heads to family court.
