RTS holding public hearing, looks to build new paratransit facility

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Regional Transit Service is holding a hearing Wednesday, in an effort to build a new paratransit facility.

RTS is seeking to build a new and larger facility on Lexington Avenue. The current location sitting between railroad tracks and a federal floodplain, offers no room for RTS to expand.

Reconnect Rochester fights for more funding towards public transportation

At the public hearing, RTS will provide plans for the new building, such as office spaces, an assessment area for customers, storage and maintenance spaces for small buses, as well as a bus washing bay, and fueling stations.

The public is invited to attend the public hearing at the Edison Tech High School on February 28 at 5:50 p.m.

Those unable to attend can watch a proposal video on their website.

RTS asks if anyone wants to provide feedback on the project at that they can do so at the public hearing, by using the Contact Us form with subject form ‘RTS Access Facility’. Other alternatives include contact by phone at 585-288-1700, or by sending a letter to RTS.
