ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced new legislation, addressed recent reports on President Biden, and pushed for ceasefire in Gaza Friday.

Senator Gillibrand was at the Arnett Branch Library in Rochester, where she announced legislation that would expand the funding for the Affordable Connectivity Program.

The Affordable Connectivity Program is a federal program that provides financial assistance to low-income households to help them afford high-speed internet.

Without this funding, over 1.7 million New York households that rely on ACP could lose access to the internet. The Senator said it is estimated that of those 1.7 million, 76,000 of those households are from Monroe County.

Those who are eligible for the ACP can receive from $30 to $75 towards their internet access per month.
