Students at School number 33 celebrate World Read Aloud Day

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Students at Rochester City School District’s School No. 33 celebrate World Read Aloud Day.

This event is celebrated globally by students, schools, and literacy advocates in more than 100 countries.

The principal of the school, Dr. Melody Martinez said, “It is so important for us to have community partners and members here today to work with our children encouraging them to read and encouraging them to work on their literacy skills which are going to help them be community members that are going to give back to the community. They’re going to help them graduate from high school and go to college and just be productive members of our community.”

It is designed to promote literacy and the awareness that everyone has an inherent right to learn to read.
