Texas woman accused of using magnets to steal clothes from Greece store

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A woman from Texas was arrested in Greece after allegedly stealing from a store using magnets.

On Tuesday, Greece police said 43-year-old Sylvia Chappa of San Angelo, Texas was in a retail store and was using special magnets used to remove anti-theft sensors. She was accused of trying to steal over $1k in clothes.

Chappa was arrested and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and possession of burglar tools.

Chappa was released on an appearance ticket and will return to Greece Town Court at a later date.
