ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The University of Rochester is looking to extend its partnership with East High School.

UR sent a letter to the Board of Education of the Rochester City School District, saying that the district will vote Thursday on whether or not to continue the partnership. UR officials are encouraging the board to vote to extend the East EPO agreement for three years.

UR says they acknowledge the partnership would not last forever, an extension would give students, families, and staff continuity and it would allow them to plan on re-integrating the school into RCSD.

The community gathered back in January to discuss the upcoming expiration of the East High and UR partnership. They discussed how the school was violent and failing before the partnership and UR helped raise the graduation rate.
