ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – Monday we’ll still only be in the mid-30s realistically as a system begins to take shape well south of us through the Appalachians. We don’t expect to see much out of this especially Monday, but overnight and into Tuesday snow showers, and even steady snow isn’t out of the question through the Finger Lakes, and especially into Central New York.

Tuesday morning we continue to watch what is now a coastal low near western New England, the northern flank of this should move out quickly into the morning. The only areas that could see steady snow or really any snow directly from this system are out in the southern Finger Lakes and along the Southern Tier namely before sunrise. Otherwise, we’ll be watching shifting winds throughout the day from the northeast to the northwest along with a plunging core of cold air above our heads. That should be enough to spark a response from the lakes and pepper the rest of the region with some snow showers.

Wednesday onwards with a solid shift in our winds to be more west and northwesterly cooler air overspreads and takes advantage of the still “warm” and ice free great lakes. Providing some additional lake induced snows from time to time.

Thursday is of growing interest as a more defined clipper system is becoming more likely this will be a good chance to possibly see a healthier snowfall for Western New York, timing and amounts will come in time as we get closer if this holds.
