ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – We are looking at another great day with temperatures getting into the 60s this afternoon. Rain does loom to our west and we expect showers to move in tonight.

Around a half inch of rain will be possible before it moves out sometime mid-day Friday. This system doesn’t carry much cold air with it, so we are still mild Friday afternoon and since the system is moving quickly, there should be plenty of dry time to finish the work week.

Weak ridging lines up nicely with Saturday, giving us a dry start to the weekend. The sun will peak out at times and the temperatures, while seasonally average, will feel a bit cool since we’ve been on such an incredibly warm stretch. We hang in the 40s through the afternoon and gear up for a cold front to arrive Sunday morning. Rain showers will move through along this front and colder air moves in behind the boundary. Flow turns out of the north behind the boundary and colder air flows in off Lake Ontario. It should be cold enough for some lake effect Monday and Tuesday, but the question is precipitation type. Surface temperatures will be in the 20s and 30s, meaning we could see rain and snow showers through that stretch.
