ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Our beginning of April dry stretch will come to an end today…on the second day of April. Rochester stays mostly dry for the early morning hours with temperatures in the low 40s. Rounds of rain starting moving in during the late morning hours and will continue throughout the day. Temperatures get back into the mid 40s for highs today. A significant severe weather outbreak to our west across Ohio into the afternoon will likely contribute to some heavier rain into Tuesday evening as those decaying storms move through.

The rounds of rain stick around throughout most of the day on Wednesday with temperatures only getting into the low 40s. Wednesday’s forecast, however, will have a shift in precipitation as our low pressure system deepens. This will allow for colder air to rush in and could change our precipitation from rain to wet snow. Minor accumulations are expected throughout the overnight hours into Thursday, favoring the higher terrains. These rain/snow showers linger throughout the day Thursday and into Friday. Temperatures for both days remain well below average, having a hard time breaking into the 40s for high temperatures.

We will slowly start to break the wet stretch heading into the weekend. Partial sunshine returns to Western New York as temperatures start their gradual climb upward. And just like that, April 8 is right there. Model guidances still giving encouraging signs for partial sunshine for the day of the eclipse. Fingers crossed!
