ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Another day, another record potentially tied here in Rochester. The warmth will last for now but winds have shifted out of the north and temperatures have already began their fall behind a cold front. Lows tonight will settle back into the low 30s and the upper 20s across the region. Clouds that are filling back in will stop them from falling to far.

Sunday, we’ll still be warmer than average for this time of year and by all technicalities we’ll be near 40 for our high likely around midnight. Afternoon highs will be nearer the mid-30s and with the wind out of the north, and considerable clouds throughout the day it won’t feel any warmer than that either.

Monday the decline hedges a bit but we’ll still only be in the mid-30s realistically as a system begins to take shape well south of us through the Appalachians. We don’t expect to see much out of this especially Monday, but overnight and into Tuesday snow showers, and even steady snow isn’t out of the question through the Finger Lakes, and especially into Central New York.

Tuesday morning we continue to watch what is now a coastal low near western New England, the northern extend of the snow shield will be nearby but its still in question if it has much of an impact in Rochester or not. Our current forecast expects it to be to far south, but the Finger Lakes and southern Livingston are still on the table to see snow here. Otherwise, we’ll be cloudy breezy and seasonable around the low 30s.

Wednesday onwards with a solid shift in our winds to be more west and northwesterly cooler air overspreads and takes advantage of the still “warm” and ice free great lakes. On and off lake enhanced snow showers are on the table through the second half of the week alongside seasonable highs and lows in the low 30s and 20s.
