ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) – Winter Weather Advisories are up for tonight into early Saturday for heavy snow and ice.

Snow showers will push into Western New York this afternoon, starting light at first. Warmer air builds in from the south and the Finger Lakes will get into the 30s while north of the thruway may stay in the 20s. This will cause a mess of precipitation types going into Friday night.

There is a better chance for ice in the Finger Lakes and snow around Rochester. A good bet would be 3″ on the ground by Saturday morning.

The system moves out by noon and we get into the middle 30s. High pressure should welcome sun by Sunday. We have a quieter stretch here through the start of next week. Monday and Tuesday should be dry with a decent amount of sun. Rain showers work their way in by the middle of next week.
